Mr. BC Nagesh, Karnataka School Education and Literacy Minister has stated on Thursday, 19th January 2023 that his department will implement the curriculum for Anganawadis  under National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.  In this connection he said that the Education Department, in association with the women and Child Development Department, will do every possible groundwork to design the state curriculum framework. He said that the government would first experiment with the NEP in 20,000 Anganawadis across the state. Later on the same will be extended to all other Anganawadis based on the feedback of the pilot project.

Karnataka is preparing to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) under the early childhood education component for those aged above 3 years. Once the State curriculum framework is finalised, training would be given to Anganawadis workers based on it.

There are 66,361 Anganawadis centers in the State. Among the Anganawadis workers, 732 are postgraduates, 6,017 are graduates, 14,303 have completed pre-university education and 40,786 have completed SSLC. There may be some constraints with respect to Anganawadis workers with SSLC as their qualification.
