For this purpose, the Chief Minister approved Rs 132 crore to meet the expenditure. Various media drew the attention of the government that the department has shown lacklustre in supplying the shoes and socks to the students although 2 months elapsed. The government did not implement the scheme for the past 2 years due to covid19.  This year the scheme has not kicked off due to no funds provided in the budget and a delay in the government’s decision-making. As a result, the Bommai administration has been facing criticism on the issue of providing shoes and socks. The opposition party leader Sri Siddaramaiah lambasted the government for its failure in providing shoes and socks to the students in government schools. In response, BC Nagesh, Minister, School Education and Literacy said children do not go to schools for shoes and socks. State Congress president D K Shivakumar said he would raise money for the shoes and socks by begging. It is surprising that the government provided uniforms, but without shoes and socks, therefore the scheme is incomplete. There are over 50 lakh students studying in government schools in Karnataka.

Edunews humbly submit to the government that it is its responsibility to implement a scheme in toto. Partial implementation invites criticisms which would damage the reputation of the government.
