Students of the Calcutta University on Monday, 24th May 2022, staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the College Street campus demanding that semester examination for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels should be conducted in the online mode. This was the second demonstration by Calcutta University students in the last three days over the issue. Around 200 students were raising slogans such as "we want online tests", and squatted in front of the main gate for around an hour. The demonstration disrupted the movement of traffic. Whereas the high-powered committee of the university, which met last week, recommended that the exams be conducted offline only. The university authority said the final decision would be taken after consultation with authorities of affiliated colleges
