Analysis

A group of experts from legal background have reviewed the question paper of the entrance examination. They opined that the question paper was set logically and sequentially on the basis of the subjects as adduced. Proper weightage has been given to each of the above subjects, hence the candidates if they have prepared properly will not find any hardship during the examination.

The question paper for the year 2020 comprised of 5 subjects and the analysis of the experts thereon is as under:

Language Proficiency

This component has 40 questions and each question carries one mark. Experts have focused more on Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Synonyms, Antonyms and Idioms and the rest have also been highlighted with lesser weightage. Reading passage obviously is one of the important task under language proficiency. Grammar at the level of UG even earlier was forming a part of the question paper. Therefore the candidates if they have a grip over language proficiency they can easily do without any confusion.

General Awareness

ACLAT examination conducted in 2019 by the Alliance University has another subject entitled General Awareness. The question paper contained questions more on Indian Constitution, Contemporary issues at the national and international level with reference to micro and macro environment. Indian culture is one of the highlights of the question paper. This is so perhaps Alliance University is expected to know about the knowledge of the candidates in socio-cultural environment. Similarly there are various issues in the legal system of India, so proper weightage was also given thereon. Needless to say there is coverage on the research and development conducted by various premiere institutions in the field of science and technology. The question paper contained lesser weightage on the history of India and also Indian National Movement. The Government of India has signed many agreements with its counterparts. Further the Government of India plays an important role in the resolution made with UNO, WTO, ASEAN, SAARC, Commonwealth, and EU. Experts have given due weightage on the treaties as well.

Legal Aptitude

The experts from legal background have also observed the question paper for the year 2019. Legal Aptitude, a part of the question paper enhances the credibility of the entrance examination conducted by Alliance University. The topics under legal aptitude focus more on Indian Constitutional Law and the micro and macro level besides Law of Torts, Law of Contract and Constitutional Law in the syllabus have contributed to the level of rating of the question paper. Furthermore vicarious liability also makes a sense in the subject. Furthermore the weightage has been accorded on Intellectual Property Rights as per the WTO, Indian Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code and also International Law. RTI, IPC, etc considering all the sub topics of the component, the experts are very clear in their review that the MCQ contained questions in the form of cases under various laws. Theoretical concepts of each sub topics could also attract the question paper setter to draw questions thereon.

Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability

The experts of the question paper for the year 2019 have included critical reasoning- directions, analogy, numbers, Venn diagram, probability, sequence and blood relations. In fact experts have made an attempt to test the level of reasoning and analytical ability of the candidates in each of the sub topics. The candidates who have studied up to the level of 10+2 as per NCERT can easily solve the reasoning and analytical ability.

 Numerical Ability

The question paper on numerical ability for the year 2019 accorded proper weightage on the various sub topics. In fact the sub topics of numerical ability focused more on percentage, profit and loss in calculation of interest, distance and time, trigonometry, calculus, simple geometry and algebra including logical analysis. On the whole, the questions on numerical ability definitely test the knowledge and skill of the candidates in the subject mainly to find out their ability.

The level of question paper is moderate. Therefore, candidates might score better marks in ACLAT.
