M.Sc. Medical Physics or Master of Science in Medical Physics is a postgraduate course. Medical Physics is an applied branch of physics devoted to the application of concepts and methods from physics to the diagnosis, treatment of human disease, planning and development of treatment equipment. A Qualified Medical Physicist is competent to practice independently one or more of the subfields (tracks) of medical physics. The duration of the course is two years and the syllabus for the course is divided into four semesters. The Master degree course is career orienting in nature that opens many career scopes for the candidates after its successful completion.
As per the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) stipulations, qualified medical physicists are must to establish radiotherapy centres/hospitals. Radiological physics has applications in diagnostics, therapy, nuclear medicine, industry, agriculture and research.
