Analysis

The team of Edunews proficient in the entrance examination, in particular, has carefully examined the pressure built on the candidates both overtly and covertly. The team after examining the paper came out with the analysis as under:

  • English Section (40 questions)
    • For most of the students this is one such section that gives the heebie-jeebies, but this year it turned out to be a cakewalk.
    • It had 8 questions based on a Reading Comprehension, 10 questions on sentence correction, that were basically carved out from the topic of Subject Verb Agreement, 4 questions on Para jumbles, 2 questions on Vocabulary in the form of Synonyms and Antonyms, 5 questions each on foreign words and misspelled words.
    • The remaining questions were based on Idioms and Phrases, the meaning of which was too deduced from the statements in which they were imbibed.
    • Around 35 attempts will be considered a good attempt, ensuring a minimum of 30+ score.
  • General Knowledge Section (50 questions)
    • In 2019, the GK section was inundated by current affairs questions, with the discounting of one question from static GK.
    • Questions were rolled out across various events of national and international importance on Science and Technology, Economics, Books and Authors, Important Dates, etc.
    • Any candidate, who kept himself in constant touch with current affairs of the last 6-8 months, could have made a decent attempt of 35+ questions, with a manageable score of 30+.
  • Reasoning Section (40 questions)
    • Much expected critical reasoning questions is not found in this paper.
    • Questions were framed around analytical reasoning skills.
    • Topics like Directions, Blood Relations, Puzzle, Syllogisms, Seating Arrangement, Coding-Decoding, Odd One Out, etc, found profound room in the reasoning section.
    • 35+ questions will be considered a good attempt with a score of 30+.
  • Legal Aptitude Section (50 questions)
    • This section is considered as one of the favorites among law aspirants, but much to our surprise, there were no experiments done in this section too.
    • All the questions were summed up around legal reasoning, resting on direct facts and principles.
    • None of the questions fell under the purview of legal GK. Also in 2019, principles were not too wordy.
    • They were kept short and precise, which in turn commanded a good attempt of 40+ questions from the students.
    • A score of a decent 35+ can be easily expected.
  • Mathematics Section (20 questions)
    • The vibrant feel of the entire paper was well carried by this section as well.
    • Questions were in sync with conventional topics like Clocks, Calendars, Profit and Loss, etc.
    • Arithmetic and number system-based questions also found a mention, like always.
    • Leaving aside one question which has been termed as erroneous, the remaining questions were easy to solve.
    • 15 + questions will be termed as a good attempt with a score of 14 +.
  • CLAT 2019 question paper was one of the easiest papers ever held. Keeping all the facts in mind, the expected CLAT cutoff for this year is going to be very high.
  • It will fall somewhere around 150 + for the top 3 National Law Universities and 130 + for the next NLUs in the league.
  • GK will certainly act as a deciding factor with a prerequisite of a good score in Math.
Counselling
  • CLAT counselling 2022 will be conducted in online mode including seat allotment list and confirmation.
  • Counselling of CLAT 2022 will begin right after the results and merit lists are released.
  • CLAT counselling is a centralized seat allotment process by CLAT Consortium.
  • Seat allotment will be done on basis of CLAT 2022 released separately for the participating National Law Universities (NLUs) as well as the preferences marked by the candidates in their CLAT 2022 application form.
  • Mentioned below is the complete counselling procedure of CLAT 2022 including online registration, choice locking, fee payment, and more.

CLAT Counselling Process 2022

  • Step 1: Publication of first admission list
    • CLAT Consortium will release a separate merit list for each NLU based on all India ranks and preference marked by candidates during their application process.
    • Candidates can check the merit list for each NLU and participate in online counselling accordingly.
  • Step 2: CLAT counselling fee payment
    • As per the admission list, candidates have to confirm their admission by fee payment and choice locking.
    • The counselling fee of Rs. 50000 shall be paid within the specified dates. Once, the counselling fee has been paid, candidates need to exercise the options below:
      • Lock option: This option is used by candidates to confirm their choice of NLU. Once the lock option is used, the candidate`s seats at the allotted NLU will be locked in place and it won`t be used for further seat allotment process. Moreover, the candidates need not participate in further seat allotment rounds (unless they withdraw admission).
      • Upgrade: This option is used when candidates want to change the allotted institute to his or her higher choice (upward shifting). Such candidates will have to wait until the next seat allotment list and they will be allotted seats only in the upper list of colleges as per their preferences marked in their CLAT 2022 application form and depending on the availability of vacant seats.
  • Step 3: Publication of second admission list
    • After fee payment and choice locking/upgrade is made, the CLAT consortium will release a second admission list for the next round of the seat allotment process.
    • Along with the seat allotment, a waitlisted candidates list will also be released, who will be called for admission if vacant seats are left after the seats locking process.
    • Waitlisted candidates also have to pay the counselling fee of Rs. 50000 and choice filling options.
    • Candidates who have been allotted seats already can withdraw their admission in this round.
    • In withdrawal cases, a nominal fee of Rs. 10000 will be deducted from Rs.50000 counselling and the remaining will be refunded to the candidates. If candidates withdraw admission after the specified dates, no refund will be given to them.
  • Step 4: Publication of third admission list
    • A third seat allotment list will be released including waitlisted candidates from the second round, and the list of waitlisted candidates for the next round will be released separately.
    • Waitlisted candidates, who completed choice filling and fee payment in the second round, will be in place of the candidates who have withdrawn from admission.
  • Step 5: Completing admission formalities
    • After seat allotment, candidates have to report to the allotted NLUs for further admission formalities like document verification and payment of remaining admission fees.
    • Candidates have to carry all the documents required for verification in original as well as copies (to be submitted with the NLU)
    • Candidates not reporting to their respective NLUs will not be confirmed for final admission. Moreover, no fee refund will be given to them i.e. Rs. 50000 amount paid as counselling fee will be forfeited.
    • If candidates are found ineligible during document verification then their admission will be cancelled. Such candidates will also not be refunded any admission fee.
  • Note:
    • Aspirants can apply for a full refund only under the conditions mentioned below
    • Full Refund: The aspirant may avail a refund of the full amount of Rs 50,000 If the aspirant doesn’t get a seat in any of the CLAT counselling rounds
